Water Resistance Training

What is wonderful about working out in water? It is the only form of exercise where you can perform cardiovascular exercises, resistance training, toning and stretching with absolutely no impact to the joints.

Elite athletes have found that Aquatic based plyometrics, intervals, quickness, core and agility exercises have shown to enhance their athletic performance. In a recent study performed by the Ohio State University of Columbus, Ohio, experts found that Aquatic plyometrics provided the same performance enhancement benefits as land plyometrics with significantly less muscle soreness.

Everyone can benefit from water training but it is especially helpful for those with severe arthritis, joint problems, sports/physical injuries, fibromyalgia, diabetes,  lower back pains, the elderly and women who are pregnant.

The buoyancy of water reduces an individuals weight by 90% thereby reducing the stress on weight-bearing joints, bones and muscles. The water also offers 12-14 more resistance than when one exercises on land. There are exercises for every muscle group, the risk of injury is very low and it provides a highly efficient means of burning calories.
